Used Drill Pipe
The majority of the used drill pipe sold by E&M Specialty Company comes from the offshore drilling industry. All used drill pipe in our inventory has been inspected by Tuboscope NOV, and inspection reports are accompanied with each sale. Using standards set forth by the American Petroleum Institute (API), Tuboscope NOV determines if the drill pipe is premium class I, yellow class II, orange class III, or structural class IV. The inspection class specifies the performance limits for future use of the drill pipe. For example: the pipe may be approved for further deep well drilling (class I), medium well drilling (class II), shallow or water well drilling (class III), or junk (class IV).
Once inspection is complete, E&M Specialty cleans the usable pipe in our Hub City drill pipe cleaning machine. This machine “rattle cleans” old drilling mud and other debris from the ID while at the same time “brush rolling” the OD. Any thread repairs that are needed are completed, the connections are doped, thread protectors installed, and the pipe is staged for sale at our 10 acre inventory yard.
